Our Mission & Vision
At Belize Sports Outreach (BSO), our mission is simple and unwavering:
to share the Good News of Christ with the children of Belize through the vehicle of sports clinics—built on the foundation of Loving Christ and Loving Others.
How We Carry Out the Mission
BSO partners with public schools across mainland Belize, visiting during school hours to host half‑day softball/baseball clinics. These clinics focus on teaching fundamental skills, teamwork, and genuine sportsmanship. Because recreational sports opportunities in many Belizean communities are limited, children eagerly welcome the chance to learn, play, and interact with our coaches and mission team.
Sports opens doors that might otherwise remain closed. As a natural “barrier breaker,” it allows our team to weave a gospel message into each clinic in a way that is meaningful, relatable, and rooted in genuine connection.
Staying Balanced on the Cross
A central theme of our clinics is “Staying Balanced on the Cross.”
At every station, we spray paint a cross on the ground—reminding children not only of the physical balance needed to play ball, but of the deeper, lasting truth of living a life balanced on Christ.
One of the greatest blessings of our ministry is witnessing children respond to a Gospel invitation. To see a young heart turn toward Jesus—right after learning to swing a bat or field a grounder—is a powerful reminder of why we serve. When a child expresses interest in learning more about a relationship with Christ, they are paired with one of our team members for personal conversation, questions, and encouragement through the Plan of Salvation.
Extending Christ’s Love Beyond the Field
Sharing Christ’s love doesn’t end with the gospel message. BSO also strives to meet practical needs in tangible ways. At each school we visit, we distribute school supplies to the students, provide a special gift to the teachers, and leave behind a full set of softball equipment—ensuring the blessing continues long after the clinic is over.
